A New Era

Guys, it’s been a while since I officially posted an announcement. This announcement is pretty huge so strap in, buckle up and get ready for full burn as this may take some time to digest.

Squadron Changes

As some of you eagle eyed people out there have noticed - there has been changes to the Discord Server and the general feel of what USED to be Blue Horizon Squadron. Now, I need to remind you that BHS is __NOT__dead. I decided to do some “rebranding” - so introducing 607 Virtual Fighter Wing. 607 is paying homage to the squadron that I used to be in when I was a young cadet. Now with that out the way, what does it mean and what is happening with 607, BHS and Golden Falcons?

607 Virtual Fighter Wing

607 will be for proper operations more “professionalism” - not necessarily full mil-sim but just enough if you’ve got a 607 tag, be sure to know you’ve not been chosen lightly for it. 607 is for the regulars who have shown up time and time again who are constantly putting in effort and who majority of us have personally flied with on some level during recent missions. We hold you in high regard if you’re in 607 VFW.

BHS / Blue Horizon Squadron

BHS is now going to be just a feeder & training squadron for new pilots to progress before they reach 607. That means they have to complete certain objectives, meet targets, be punctual, regular, on time there’s a lot more constraints however that also means training sessions, check rides & specialities in BHS are going to make a huge come back. Communication with the discord and integration with this community will be at the forefront of interactions. If you don’t interact for 1 month and don’t announce your presence or set up a training flight / check ride YOU WILL BE KICKED FROM THE DISCORD as we’re after quality over quantity. This does NOT affect older regulars or people with authorised leave.

Golden Falcons

Currently on hold right now, however after the holiday things will be heating up - so if you’re interested in Aerobatics, we do have a separate Discord for that however it’s still under the banner of the Wing.

It’s all about the Pentiums, baby.

We have as of today (30/03/2026) paid for a new NimbusPulse 40 Slot Server – this is due to the Free Testing 60 Slot server sadly coming to an end. We’re sticking with the current provider as they’ve been rock solid and we can’t appreciate the team behind them enough for giving us access to test for this length of time. So a huge shout out to mostly Timm from Nimbus Pulse the Brains behind the thing, that swiftly brings us up to the next announcement and probably the biggest one.

Not only do we have the DCS server, we do have a fresh new VPS server with our new home of https://www.607vfw.onl (Currently being redirected to https://607vfw.github.io right now bar testing/staging servers). The reason for this is because we needed home on the web, but also as some of you @🧪 Testers know, we’re working on a web project which will make all of our lives a little bit easier and take us away from spreadsheets. We will be effectively able sign up for operations, participate in training missions, log our flight hours and so many more features i’ve got planned for it. Right now it is in an operable state and we’ve been testing the functionality rigorously over the past couple of days.

Included with the website is our very own Discord Bot - 607 VFW Ops. There are a few commands that are fully functional such as /ops check-in, /ops register, /ops claim, /ops info and so on, there’s also an ability for the bot to respond to you by just chatting when given phrases such as Capra confirming Hornet 1-1 for Operation Black Flag. . Capra checking in to Hornet 1-1 for Operation Black Flag , Capra registering interest for Operation Black Flag, Show me my flights, and so on.
